After Buying A used car...

You may be tempted to hit the road and start enjoying your new ride, but before you do that, there are a few things you should do first.  Here are just a few tips for you if you’re a used car owner.

Read Over The  Owner's Manual

Although the car is used, it may be new to you. Make sure that you review the owner’s manual so that you know the  ins and outs of your vehicle. The most important things for you to review are the maintenance schedule and what the various dashboard lights mean.

Complete  Your Paperwork

You’ll want to ensure that  you’ve filled out all the necessary paperwork before you start driving. After the paperwork is complete, keep it in a safe location that’s  easily accessible, such as in your  glove compartment.

Get  Insured

Contact your insurance company  and notify them of your new vehicle. Sometimes, you’ll need to be insured on the car before you’re allowed to drive it off the lot. In this situation, you can get the VIN from the dealership ahead of time and then use that to set up your new policy.

In some instances, you may be buying a used car “as-is,” meaning that you’re purchasing it fully aware that it may not be in perfect condition. While many dealerships do their due diligence to ensure the car is safe and running, it’s still a good idea to bring the vehicle to a trusted mechanic to have the following checked out:
